Discover Pottery Classes at Myrtle's Clayhouse

Ridgewood, Queens, Bushwick, New York, United States - December 13, 2025 / Myrtle's Clayhouse /

Myrtle’s Clayhouse has officially opened its doors in Ridgewood, marking an exciting new addition to the neighborhood’s growing arts community.  The studio is founded by Zofi Lipton, who has worked with clay since she was eight years old. Born in Poland and raised in Maspeth, Zofi has long dreamed of creating a ceramics space in her home borough. Together with her husband, Adam Lipton (co-founder of Bushwick Ceramics), she has built an inclusive, two-level studio designed to bring creativity, learning, and community together under one roof.

“Clay has always been part of my life,” says Zofi. “When my family moved from Poland to Maspeth, I didn’t know anyone, but ceramics became my language. Now I want to share that same sense of discovery and belonging with others here in Ridgewood.”

For Adam and Zofi, opening Myrtle’s Clayhouse in Ridgewood was a natural evolution. After 3 years of building Bushwick Ceramics into one of Brooklyn’s most loved community art spaces, they saw a growing need for a creative studio in Queens - one that reflected Ridgewood’s welcoming, independent, and artist-driven culture.

Located at 60-21 Myrtle Avenue, the studio’s glowing lavender-purple neon sign has already become a beacon for passersby, inviting them to step inside and discover the magic of clay.

Myrtle’s Clayhouse invites residents and art enthusiasts to explore the world of ceramics through a range of engaging classes and workshops. With offerings for both beginners and experienced ceramicists, the studio aims to provide a warm, welcoming space where people can experiment, learn new techniques, and tap into their creativity.

At Myrtle's Clayhouse, individuals can immerse themselves in hands-on experiences for all skill levels. The studio offers a range of ceramics classes, including wheel-throwing and handbuilding – as well as specialized 1-day workshops. They’ve hired some of the most creative teachers around to guide their students through the wonder of making. Beginners can take introductory courses to learn the fundamentals of ceramics, while more experienced potters can refine their skills and explore advanced techniques. Each class is structured to encourage creativity and self-expression, allowing participants to create unique pieces of art.

Myrtle’s Clayhouse also offers monthly memberships for those looking to explore ceramics more deeply. Members receive full access to a thoughtfully equipped workspace, including pottery wheels, a kiln, hand-building tools, and a variety of clay types. The studio is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, allowing artists to create at their own pace and on their own schedule. Whether you’re a first-time beginner or an experienced ceramicist, the membership program provides a supportive environment that encourages experimentation, skill-building, and artistic growth.  Designed for those who want to work beyond scheduled classes, Myrtle’s Clayhouse memberships offer the space, materials, and flexibility needed to pursue personal projects and develop a more consistent creative practice.

In addition to its regular classes and memberships, Myrtle’s Clayhouse will host special events and workshops throughout the year. These programs will feature guest artists, themed sessions, and hands-on opportunities for community engagement. The founders are committed to building a vibrant ceramics community in Ridgewood, one where people can connect, collaborate, and inspire one another. The studio also offers one-day workshops, classes for kids aged 10+, senior discounts, and community “clay play” open-studio events designed to make ceramics accessible to all.

The grand opening of Myrtle's Clayhouse is an exciting opportunity for residents to discover the joys of pottery. The studio's welcoming atmosphere and expert instruction make it an ideal place for anyone interested in exploring their artistic side.

As the local community embraces this new ceramics studio, Myrtle's Clayhouse is poised to become a hub for creativity and artistic expression. Zofi and Adam are excited to share their passion for ceramics with others and look forward to seeing the unique creations that emerge from their studio. With a commitment to quality instruction and a focus on community, Myrtle's Clayhouse is set to make a lasting impact in Ridgewood.

In conclusion, Myrtle's Clayhouse invites everyone to celebrate its grand opening. With a variety of pottery classes available for all skill levels, as well as monthly memberships for those eager to explore ceramics further, the studio is ready to welcome new students and seasoned potters alike.
