GatherGrounds Resorts has successfully acquired The Oaks Campground, a 155-acre outdoor retreat situated in the southern region of Michigan. This acquisition marks an exciting new phase for the campground, with various enhancements and improvements planned under the new management.
The Oaks Campground is strategically located next to the Waterloo State Recreation Area, which is the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, granting guests direct access to vast natural landscapes and a plethora of outdoor activities. Additionally, the property is just eight minutes away from the public boat ramp at Portage Lake, a favored all-sports lake perfect for boating and water-related activities.
Next to the campground lies the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, which is home to a diverse range of bird species that can often be spotted throughout the campground, offering guests a unique and immersive experience in nature.
Under the ownership of GatherGrounds Resorts, numerous improvement initiatives and additions are on the horizon, including the revitalization of around 120 acres of forested trails for riding and recreation. These trails will cater to mountain biking, golf carts, horseback riding, and hiking, providing guests with multiple options to discover the property's picturesque terrain.
Upcoming upgrades will also feature renovations to the on-site swimming lake beach, which will include the addition of lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court. In addition to the swimming lake, The Oaks Campground boasts a second lake dedicated solely to fishing, equipped with several docks.
