HONG KONG, CHINA, August 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fanxiang, a storage technology brand, today announced FanX Drive X3, a compact hardware-and-software solution designed to help users turn their existing PC and connected drives into a private cloud storage setup.
The product will launch on Kickstarter, targeting users who want remote file access, phone photo and video backup, file sharing, and basic NAS-like functionality without purchasing a dedicated traditional NAS or relying entirely on third-party cloud storage subscriptions.
Unlike a conventional external hard drive, the main FanX Drive X3 model is diskless. It does not provide a fixed storage capacity by itself. Instead, it works with the storage already available on a user’s computer or connected external drives. The PC acts as the storage host, while the FanX Drive X3 hardware and FanXCloud software help enable remote access, backup, sharing, file management, and remote PC wake-up.

FanX Drive X3 is intended for several common storage scenarios: creators managing large media files, families backing up phone photos and videos, remote workers accessing files outside the home, and NAS beginners who want a simpler entry point into private storage.
FanX Drive X3 connects to a host computer through USB and works with the FanXCloud software to help users turn their existing PC and connected drives into a private cloud setup for remote access, backup, sharing, and file management.
At launch, Windows PC host support will be prioritized. Users will be able to access and manage files through supported devices including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android via the FanXCloud app. macOS host support is planned through a future software update.
FanX Drive X3 also supports features such as automatic phone photo and video backup, one-click file sharing, remote file management, remote Wake-on-LAN, and system monitoring. Data transferred during remote access is protected with AES-256 encryption, while files remain stored on the user’s own PC or connected drives.
The Kickstarter campaign will include a diskless model as the main recommended option, along with planned storage-included versions such as 512GB and 1TB configurations.
