COMPTON, CA, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Compton’s Hub City International Film Festival (CHCIFF) returns September 25 27, 2026, for its 3rd Annual Festival, bringing filmmakers, musicians, educators, entertainment professionals, youth, families, and community leaders together to celebrate Compton’s culture, creativity, history, and future. This year, St. John’s Community Health executive Gean Leyba joins as Title Sponsor, deepening the festival’s commitment to community connection through Film, Music, Education, and Health & Wellness. Ladies Touch, Inc. serves as fiscal sponsor.
The festival’s Ladies Touch: Women in Entertainment theme opens with Festival Ambassador Camille Tucker, an acclaimed writer, director, producer, and NAACP Image Award nominee whose family ties to former Compton mayors Walter Tucker II and III connect her entertainment career to the city’s legacy.
Opening night features a red carpet celebration and 50th Anniversary Encore Screening of Car Wash with director Michael Schultz, followed by a tribute to legendary hip hop group JJFAD and a 1970s Disco/Funk celebration at Odyssey 21.
Saturday centers on youth, education, and health, opening with remarks from Assemblymember Mike Gipson and featuring student and youth filmmaker showcases, a documentary on St. John’s Community Health, and the World Premiere of Howard Scott: Straight Into Compton. Programming continues with Landi Maduro’s workshop, “The Filmmaker’s Revenue Blueprint,” and an Actors Workshop led by Monica R. Cooper running both Saturday and Sunday.
An AI Filmmakers Q&A featuring Dwayne Alexander Smith, Ben Ramsey, and Ayanna Henderson will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping storytelling and creative opportunity. The Compton Deltas’ Annual Jazz Concert, starring Will Downing, brings music to campus throughout the weekend.
Sunday features speaker and producer Desreta Jackson, known for portraying Young Celie in The Color Purple, discussing her journey from child actress to producer. The day includes the premiere of Chops, directed by Hakim A. Khalfani, and closes with an award ceremony honoring festival filmmakers, artists, and partners.
CHCIFF 2026 unites film, music, education, health, and community in one weekend, welcoming audiences from around the world to experience Compton’s story.
