The vulnerability research company’s team and unpublished research library form the core of Bendings Labs
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Bendings, the New York cybersecurity firm, has completed its acquisition of Scopertos, a vulnerability research company, for $55 million. The process began in 2025 and closed in stages, with the final closing in October 2026. The two companies negotiated the deal directly, with no outside advisors. Bendings financed the acquisition from its own resources and took no outside investment.
Scopertos has kept a deliberately low profile. It started in engineering tooling for software delivery, then moved into security research. It sells original vulnerability research to a small number of clients under exclusive, multi-year agreements. The research goes to those clients and nowhere else. Those agreements continue under Bendings.
The acquisition includes the Scopertos research library, which has never been published. It holds original vulnerabilities in widely deployed enterprise, network and embedded software. Bendings also acquired the rights attached to the client agreements. Specific vulnerabilities, client identities and contract terms remain confidential under agreements that transferred with the acquisition.
The entire Scopertos team, including its founder, has joined Bendings. The team forms the core of Bendings Labs, the firm’s vulnerability research division. Scopertos ran an isolated research lab to validate its findings, and that lab now operates as part of Bendings Labs.
Adversary simulation is only as good as the tradecraft behind it. A test built only on published techniques measures a client against attacks its defenders can already read about. First-party research lets the firm’s red teams and Bendings Gauge, its AI model, test clients against techniques that are not yet public. The acquisition also deepens the research behind The Seam Report 2026, the firm’s study of 78 publicly documented intrusions in the United States and the Gulf.
“The value in Scopertos is the team and the library,” a Bendings spokesperson said. “Quiet companies are where the real work happens. This team found vulnerabilities nobody else has published, and that work now sits behind the testing we run for our clients.”
The first coordinated disclosures from the library begin in 2027. Bendings Labs will publish them under its own name.
