Ambience Healthcare, the leading intelligence platform for clinical documentation and revenue integrity, unveiled a multiyear platform roadmap designed to fundamentally reshape how health systems deliver, coordinate, and improve care using AI. The roadmap, developed in collaboration with the nation’s leading academic medical centers, was presented at the company’s inaugural Apex Summit, held April 13 in Chicago.
The roadmap extends Ambience’s AI-generated clinical intelligence across five domains — clinical workflows, revenue integrity, patient engagement, care orchestration, and research — establishing what the company describes as a new system of intelligence for healthcare. Rather than optimizing existing processes, the platform is designed to rethink what those processes were built to do in the first place.
“Healthcare systems were built around the scarcity of human expertise,” said Nikhil Buduma, Co-Founder and CEO of Ambience Healthcare. “With AI, we can extend that expertise across every patient and every setting. When a shift of this magnitude happens, you don’t optimize the system, you rebuild it.”
From Point Solution to Platform
Ambience’s trajectory over the past two years has moved from industry-leading ambient documentation to a full intelligence platform that spans the continuum of care. At enterprise deployments across the country, Ambience has achieved clinician utilization rates above 80%, enterprise-wide NPS scores above 60, and third-party validated ROI — including a demonstrated 3:1 return on operating margin. The platform now supports more than 200 subspecialties across ambulatory, emergency, and inpatient settings.
Five Domains of Redesign
At Apex, Ambience outlined five dimensions of its platform roadmap, each designed to extend clinical intelligence beyond documentation and into the workflows that define how care is delivered, funded, experienced, coordinated, and discovered.
- Clinical Workflow: Ambience outlined its approach to a unified clinical intelligence platform spanning pre-visit, encounter, inpatient, and nursing workflows. By reducing administrative burden and surfacing relevant context in real time, this approach is designed to help clinicians and care teams focus more of their attention on patient care. The platform builds on existing capabilities — including Chart Chat for Nursing, Chart Awareness, and its Conditions Advisor — to demonstrate how clinical intelligence generated at the point of care compounds across disciplines and settings.
- Revenue Cycle: Ambience described a model for revenue integrity that begins at the point of care, with coding and documentation intelligence supporting clinicians during the encounter. Rather than reconstructing accuracy after the fact, this approach encodes the expertise of the nation’s best coders — fine-tuned by specialty — into models that proactively optimize documentation in real time. This reduces reliance on retrospective workflows while ensuring clinical work is accurately reflected in the medical record, and unlocks the potential for capabilities such as AI-automated denials management and adjudication, where the same clinical intelligence that generates the claim during the care visit can also defend it. To signal its confidence in this approach, Ambience announced it is now offering performance incentive-based contracts, linking a portion of its compensation directly to the measurable financial outcomes it delivers for health systems. It is a model few AI companies have been willing to match.
- Patient Experience: Ambience previewed Kait, a concept for an AI patient agent designed to extend care beyond the walls of the health system. Kait would engage with patients between visits, record updates on symptoms and care plan adherence, monitor changes in condition, and flag issues to the care team — offering a glimpse at what continuous, AI-enabled care could look like. Ambience is exploring how patient experience can evolve beyond episodic care into a more continuous, connected model, enabling health systems to stay connected to their patients without adding to their administrative workload.
- Care Orchestration: Ambience highlighted early work on care orchestration capabilities that bring together clinical context and operational data to reduce system inefficiencies and remove waste. This work is focused on how care teams coordinate how patients move through the system — including capabilities such as acuity-informed scheduling and coordinated next-step execution — helping ensure patients reach the right care at the right time with appropriate preparation, while reducing delays and avoidable friction across the system.
- Clinical Research: Ambience outlined its approach to advancing clinical research through structured clinical intelligence generated during routine care. This effort focuses on building systems that can generate and test clinical hypotheses at scale, shifting research from answering known questions to discovering new ones. Every encounter generates structured reasoning traces — not just what was documented, but how the clinician thought through the problem. Aggregated across millions of encounters, specialties, and institutions, this system of intelligence powers a new class of clinical learning AI where every encounter makes the next one smarter and where insights unlock new value for life sciences and the research mission. Early applications include complex conditions such as Long COVID, with efforts underway in collaboration with leading academic medical centers to support end-to-end computational phenotyping.
Looking Ahead
“For years, health systems have been told to do more with less. Nobody told them how,” said Mike Ng, Co-Founder and President of Ambience Healthcare. “Health systems that lean into redesign will define the next era of medicine. With AI, the tradeoff between solving today’s operational challenges and building for the future begins to disappear.”
“If 2024 was the year of experimentation and 2025 was the year of implementation, then 2026 is the year of maturity,” said Buduma. “It’s the year we consolidate from a hundred point-solution promises to a handful of proven platforms.”
Ambience’s platform is trusted by leading health systems across the United States and was ranked #1 by KLAS for improving the clinician experience in the 2025 KLAS Emerging Solutions Top 20 report and recognized as the 2026 KLAS/CHIME Trailblazer Award winner. Ambience Healthcare’s Apex Summit brought together health system executives, clinical leaders, and technology innovators to explore the future of AI in healthcare.
