JST Power Equipment (JST), a global provider of advanced electrical power solutions, today announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Wytheville, Virginia, marking the company’s eleventh global factory and a major expansion of its North American manufacturing capabilities.
The Wytheville facility reflects JST’s continued investment in manufacturing close to its customers and strengthens the company’s ability to support growing demand across utilities, renewable energy, data centers, and large industrial markets. The new location supports JST’s long‑term strategy to deliver faster lead times, localized factory acceptance testing, and enhanced customer collaboration in the United States.
Situated within the Fairview Industrial Park, the Wytheville campus will focus on the manufacturing of liquid‑filled, pad‑mounted single‑phase and three‑phase transformers ranging from 25 kVA to 6,000 kVA up to 35 kV. Initial production capacity is planned at approximately 150 units in 2026, scaling to 1,000 units beginning in 2027, supporting both near‑term and long‑term customer demand.
“Opening our Wytheville facility is an exciting milestone for JST Power Equipment,” said Matthew Polk, Executive Vice President. “This investment allows us to manufacture closer to our U.S. customers, comply with local and regional sourcing requirements, and provide the high level of service and responsiveness our customers expect. It also strengthens our ability to support factory acceptance testing and on‑site collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.”
The new site spans approximately 45,000 square feet across two buildings and is designed to support manufacturing, engineering, service, and customer experience activities. JST expects to initially employ 25–30 manufacturing professionals and 10–20 office and engineering staff, with additional hiring anticipated as production ramps in the coming years.
The Wytheville opening builds on JST’s recent global expansion, which includes manufacturing operations in Mexico, China, Malaysia, and multiple U.S. locations, enabling the company to better serve customers across Europe, North America, and Asia. JST’s global manufacturing network supports a broad portfolio of solutions, including dry‑type transformers, pad‑mounted transformers, air‑ and gas‑insulated switchgear, power transformers up to 150 MVA, and battery energy storage systems.
Beyond capacity expansion, the new facility underscores JST’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and workforce culture. Across its global operations, the company continues to increase the use of renewable energy, reduce environmental impact, and invest in employee engagement—efforts that have contributed to JST being recognized as a Top Workplace in 2025.
With demand for reliable power infrastructure accelerating due to electrification, grid modernization, and renewable integration, JST believes the Wytheville facility will play a critical role in helping customers deliver more resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy systems.
“Our expansion in Wytheville positions JST for the next phase of growth,” Polk added. “It reinforces our ability to move fast, stay flexible, and deliver high‑performance power solutions at scale—right where and when our customers need them.”
